Why We Built Don & Stav
Don & Stav began with two mates from Brisbane who shared a passion for motorbikes and a frustration with what was available to ride in.
Between us we've ridden across just about every style: sports bikes, cruisers, nakeds, adventure and off-road. And every time we went looking for riding jeans, we ran into the same problem. The options on the market looked like motorcycle gear. Bulky, obvious, a bit tacky. We wanted something that looked and felt like a real pair of jeans. Something you could wear to work, to a cafe, out with friends, and nobody would ever know you'd ridden there.
So we figured, how hard could it be? Get some quality denim, source some Kevlar, put them together. Simple.
We were wrong.
We ordered samples of different materials, multiple grades of DuPont Kevlar at varying weights, and sent them off for testing. The results were a shock. Most of what we'd sourced, the same materials used by many brands already on the market, would have rated just one or two stars for protection.
That changed everything. We scrapped the shortcut and spent years searching the world for genuinely high-performing protective fabrics. We found them. But high-performing materials at this level don't come cheap, and the numbers made traditional retail a difficult path to walk.
For now, we sell direct and online only. No retailers, no markups, no middlemen. It's how we're able to put the best materials in the world into a jean and keep our prices as competitive as possible.
Our jeans are crafted in Fiji and independently tested through MotoCAP. Every pair comes with SAS-TEC certified armour included at no extra cost.
We built Don & Stav because we couldn't find what we were looking for. Turns out, a lot of other riders couldn't either.
